At the TableTop Cooking Company, we're passionate about seasonal eating; buying British food and using it at around the season when it's first ready to eat. By sourcing fresh food locally, you get to experience the taste at its best – and you'll save yourself some money and help the environment too.

Why seasonal food is so great:

  • It's healthier. Because it hasn't been stored for too long or transported too far, it retains more vitamin C.
  • It's tastier. Food grown out of season in a greenhouse can taste a bit bland.
  • It's greener. Locally-grown foods don't rack up air miles, and if they're seasonal they won't have been grown in a heated greenhouse.

Winter's wild mushrooms bring depth and intensity to a range of meals, and an unbeatable meatiness to veggie dishes – try adding them to salads, pizzas or risottos. You can forage for them yourself (if you know what you're doing) or find great varieties at your local farmer's market. Our winter recipe for wild garlic mushrooms is delicious, and perfect with fresh, warm, crusty bread.
